Stephanie Cadieux to focus on issues facing young working families
Children and families minister Stephanie Cadieux will speak at the second Business and Families First Dialogue meeting taking place tomorrow in Surrey.
The focus of the meeting will be to provide recommendations to businesses to reduce pressure on working families with young children.
This year’s meeting builds on the three recommendations mentioned in the Business and Families Position Paper of the Surrey Board of Trade which was issued last year.
The three recommendations include affordable child care, enhanced parental leave split between the parents and tax incentives for working families.
Now supported by over 1,000 business members of the Burnaby Board of Trade, the paper recommends $10 per day child care as opposed to the current $40 per day.
The event is sponsored by both the Surrey and Burnaby Boards of Trade.
$1 will be donated to the BC chapter of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation by Beacon News for every completed reader survey. Support a great cause today!
It also recommends tax incentives for families and an 18-month parental leave that will be divided between both parents.
Besides Cadieux, representatives from IBM and Ritchie Brothers Auctioneers will also speak at the meeting.
