Stork Craft, government join hands to provide cribs to low income families
Stork Craft Manufacturing Inc. and the B.C. government are working together to provide cribs to low income families.
Stork Craft is a large corporation in the province and one of the largest supplier of children’s furniture and toys in the world. It recently donated 130 cribs worth $30,000 to a charity in Alberta.
“This is a very generous offer from Stork Craft that will help support safe sleeping arrangements for infants,” says minister of Children and Family Development, Stephanie Cadieux, on the company’s decision to help vulnerable children in B.C.
$1 will be donated to the BC chapter of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation by Beacon News for every completed reader survey. Support a great cause today!
While the supplier provides the cribs, the government’s massive store of data will help in the identification of families who may be in need of this assistance.
Several organizations have already shown an interest in this project. They include the Association of Neighbourhood Houses BC, BC Society of Transition Houses and Westcoast Family Centres.
It is not yet revealed how many cribs will be donated in B.C.
“We have not put a limit on the number of cribs that we will donate and plan to continue to work with the ministry to expand the program to other communities in the province,” said Stork Craft president Jim Moore.
